June 21st, 2010

Serendipity Point Films teamed up with Modus FX to work on the adaptation of Montreal author Mordecai Richler’s award-winning novel Barney’s Version. As the sole visual effects company on this feature-length production, Modus has just delivered 65 digital effects shots for the film directed by Richard J. Lewis (CSI: Crime Scene Investigation) and scripted by Michael Konyves.

"Modus Fx had to step up to the plate and meet the hefty challenge of producing shots for a movie based on Richler's magnum opus. We approached this project as a tribute to one of Canada’s most prominent writers," stated Marc Bourbonnais, president of Modus FX. “Visual Effects artists and technicians at Modus worked tirelessy to scale unprecedented heights.”

Filming took place in 2009 in Montreal, the Laurentians, the Eastern Townships, Rome and New York. The release is planned for later this year.

About Barney’s Version

The movie tells the picaresque and touching story of the politically-incorrect, fully-lived life of the impulsive, irascible and fearlessly blunt Barney Panofsky. Dustin Hoffman plays Barney’s (Paul Giamatti’s) father. Rosamund Pike, Minnie Driver and Rachelle Lefevre have also been cast as Barney's three ex-wives. The cast also includes Scott Speedman, Bruce Greenwood, Macha Grenon, and Mark Addy.
