A few days before the opening of the 2010 Shanghai World Expo, Modus FX has now officially completed visual effects for the stereoscopic production "Oil - Extending City Dreams". The project is a short 3D film chronicling the evolution of human civilization and milestones in the urbanization process. The show will be projected on a cube-shaped pavilion totaling of 3,600 square meters and lit by tens of thousands of light-emitting diodes (LEDs).
"Having developed custom tools and programs tailored by our experienced technicians, our artists were able to meet this challenge and exceed both producer and director expectations," stated Marc Bourbonnais, president of the company. "Modus FX has acquired expertise through its creature design and digital environments studio," he said. This production required a long list of software including Autodesk® Softimage® and The Foundry’s Nuke.
The 2010 Expo will run from May 1st through October 31st, 2010. More than 190 countries and 50 global organizations will cross paths in Shanghai with the organizers expecting more than 70 million visitors at the event.
